The Best Western Hotel Regina Elena boasts a fantastic location with beautiful ocean views, but don't let that distract you from its shortcomings. Contrary to its online persona, our room was nothing like what was advertised.
The property certainly has historical charm, but it feels outdated rather than nostalgically appealing. You can see attempts have been made to modernize, but they seem half-hearted—pedestal sinks with no counter space in the bathrooms, linoleum flooring, and awkward room configurations that resemble walk-in closets more than luxury suites.
The roof deck swimming pool is a nice touch, but the lack of amenities like umbrellas and convenient towel service are glaring omissions. Be prepared to shell out an extra 50 euros for beach chairs, and don't expect a four-star dining experience by the beach either.
In summary, if you're choosing this hotel for its location and ocean views, you won't be disappointed. Just be cautious about your expectations for luxury and service, as this hotel falls short of its 4-star claims.
I guess the Best Western moniker should have been a dead give away. It’s a decent budget motor hotel brand but the Regina Elena holds itself out as something more and delivers short. You can tell that it was once a fine hotel 100 years ago. …
An elegant place with a great location in Santa Margherita that deserves a visit. Our stay was excellent with great staff, except at the beach where you can't seat 5 minutes without renting mattresses and a beach umbrella. The breakfast is …
The warmest, kindest hotel staff. Fantastic food, rooms and views. It has been a year since our trip and I am still bowled over by how incredible the hotel staff has been. My husband fell seriously ill during our trip and the hotel staff immediately acted upon it, calling the best doctor they could find. While he was recuperating in the hospital, we had to extend our stay- in peak season in Santa Margherita! The hotel was fully booked out. We only planned it as a stopover for 2 days but ended up having to stay 14 days and the hotel was fully booked out. The reception staff were amazing trying to coordinate and rearrange the other guests' accommodations each time just so my young daughter and I don't have to shift hotels or rooms every few days. And the domestic regular guests actually agreed to delay their trip or be relocated to another hotel, we were truly grateful for their kindness. The chef baked a birthday cake for my daughter and the staff regularly checked in on us to ask about my husband's condition and see how we were coping. As hotel staff work in shifts, I'm surprised that everyone was updated and I did not have to repeat the entire story whenever I came by the reception to seek another extension. In the midst of a medical crisis and a super trying time with a young child all alone in a foreign country, Hotel Regina Elena's staff made us feel safe. Truly exceptional people. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts- the Krabbesund family.
Paid extra for seaview which we got however our room ( 233 )was half the size of our friends who could still see the sea ( 435 ) ! The room was clean but very small with not much wardrobe and draw space. Breakfast was fine continental but …
We stayed 2 nights as part of a Tour Group. Location was great but our allocated room was extremely small and dated. It was the smallest room/bathroom and bed out of all the places we stayed on our 11 day tour. We had a Tour Group dinner …
On an Insight Vacations tour. This hotel is charming, elegant and comfortable. Very well run, it is centrally located to the town and it’s amenities. The comfort of and the view from the balcony was very nice indeed. Good service, bar and breakfast.
The location was perfect, between Santa Margarita and Portofino. We rented a Tesla and the hotel had a Tesla charging station (which we had to book in advance at 20 euros a day). The breakfast was wonderful. The hotel itself was magnificent. Staff were helpful.
